What a career Tony has had, many follow and share news and business practices about Zappos, especially after the acquisition of Zappos by Amazon. The Asia Society posted this video of Tony speaking about “…the science of happiness as a way to run a business.”

I had to pull out these bullet points of Core Values from his presentation, the quirkiness and the realness of these key points definitely hit home for me.  Of course not every organization can follow these, but why not start somewhere and attempt tactics like these in the same realm…..it’s a changing world, and people are working harder and longer than ever, and customers expect more and more everyday in a world where they can be heard.

Example: Core Values

  • Deliver WOW Through Service
  • Embrace and Drive Change
  • Creative fun and a Little Weirdness
  • Be Adventurous, Creative, and Open-Minded
  • Pursue Growth and Learning
  • Build Open and Honest Relationships With Communication
  • Build a Positive Team and Family Spirit
  • Do More with Less
  • Be Passionate and Determined
  • Be Humble

Well put Tony….be sure to watch the video below and take something away from it.

Well, after 15 years of technology consulting and advising clients in the Interactive space, I’ve finally decided to share my thoughts and findings on this Blog without having to charge an hourly rate. I’m an avid reader of great resources like AdAge, Mashable, TechCrunch, CIO; follow dynamic bloggers like Robert Scoble (yes i know people have a love/hate relationship with him) and Jeremiah Owyang; while following leading agencies (small and large) like RazorfishOdopod, R/GA, VCCP and Frog.

Recently leaving the role as EVP of Interactive and Technology / Managing Director for JHG, an Interactive Agency in San Diego focused on Sports, Consumer products and Entertainment; I find myself consulting again in real situations (meetings, pitches, projects, coffee shop talk) with small to large sized clients and colleagues, who are dealing with the everyday changing world of Marketing and Advertising in a growing Digital World, while needing to understand the impact of their technology infrastructure and processes.

Companies/Brands are wanting to establish or grow their Digital Presence using so many different tactics, which is exactly what keeps me up late at night and what I have a passion for….it’s always nice to tell a client that they can finally have a true ROI, no more of those fluffy impressions, while at the being able to leverage affordable sustainable technologies available to a company of any size.  Having the opportunity to work with brands like the MS Society and other charity organizations Pro bono, gives me that “feel good” reward to continue  to drive more forward.

Writing my first program back when I was in 5th grade, definitely set me on the road to technology, though I was raised in a small farm town in Texas playing football everyday….then running a BBS while in high school while hacking Pac-Man in computer class…..then working at Dell.com as developer when I was 19 (true enterprise development)…..then 7 years of Technology Consulting in Austin, with Dell as my major client….then 5 years of managing creative/development staff at an Agency, while being able to engage with clients (Qualcomm, Yahoo! Sports, Comcast, NBA, FLO TV, Rogers, JVC, Buffalo Bills, Volcom, etc) and to pitch (and of course execute) big ideas; I’ve come full circle with the “real” experience to understand (share) and appreciate many facets of Technology and Marketing (innovation all the time), and still hungry for more.

I may tend to write like I talk (fast), or provide too many details (i like using bullets in outlines), and will forget a word here and there (slow down brain), but I’ll try my best as I’m excited to finally start sharing my experience in this sort of medium, besides through an email, or during a client meeting. Thanks again for visiting, be sure to also follow me on Twitter @JacobShea, as I look forward to establishing continued relationships with other movers/shakers in the Digital World,  again…..I’m still hungry.
